Cuprous Oxide

Cuprous oxide (Cu2O) has long been used as the main component of anti-fouling paints to prevent the adhesion of marine organisms, including barnacles.
Previously, organotin compounds were used for the same purpose, but due to their toxicity and adverse effects on marine organisms, there has been a shift to cuprous oxide.
By preventing the adhesion of marine organisms through the use of cuprous oxide-containing anti-fouling paints, vessel fuel consumption can be reduced and exhaust gas emissions can be curbed, making this a product that helps improve the environment.
